The Revolutionary!

The next gen would have probably not even heard of his name! That is exactly why I want to highlight our lesser known but heroic Freedom Fighters who fought the British with their Heart And Soul. Azad was a great revolutionary who died even before he was 25 but his heroic acts continue to live to this day.

V. O. Chidambaram Pillai

a quick sketch

V. O. Chidambaram Pillai, popularly known by his initials, V.O.C. -> Vandanam. Olagantha Pillai. Chidambaram Pillai was an Indian freedom fighter born on 5 September 1872 in Vandanam (a small village) is very near to Ottapidaram, Tuticorin district of Tamil Nadu State of India. He was a prominent lawyer, and a trade union leader.

He gets credit for launching the first indigenous Indian shipping service between Tuticorin and Colombo with the Swadeshi Steam Navigation Company, competing against British ships.

He was an Indian National Congress (INC) member, later charged with sedition by the British government and sentenced to life imprisonment;
his barrister license was stripped.

Today's topic is Freedom Fighters.

Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.
~ Mahatma Gandhi

Where the mind is without fear and the head held high;
Where knowledge is free;
Where the world has not been broken up into fragments by narrow domestic walls;
Where words come out from the depth of truth;
Where tireless striving stretches its arms towards perfection;
Where the clear stream of reason has not lost its way into the dreary desert sand of dead habit;
Where the mind is led forward by Thee into ever-widening thought and action;
Into that heaven of freedom, my Father, let my country awake.
~ Rabindranath Tagore
